A Survey on the Use of Email for Electronic Reference Service in Some Nigerian Universities

Abstract

This work is a survey on the use of email for electronic reference service among selected Universities in Edo State,
Nigeria viz: University of Benin, Benin City and Benson Idahosa University, Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria. With the aid of
questionnaire, the population of the study consisted of twenty-seven academic librarians of both institutions. The collected data
was through questionnaire. The results from the data analysis show that most academic librarians do not use email for electronic
reference. This might be because it is not a matter of deliberate policy in any library.
