Abstract

This study evaluates the Al-Arabiyah Baina Yadaik textbook as a model for communicative Arabic language teaching, emphasizing its integration of linguistic, communicative, and cultural competencies. This research addresses the need for effective teaching materials that equip learners with practical language skills and cultural understanding, particularly in real-world contexts. This study aims to analyze the textbook’s strengths and limitations in aligning with the contemporary principles of communicative language teaching. Using a qualitative methodology, this research combines descriptive and content analyses to examine the textbook’s content, structure, and pedagogical strategies. The key elements analyzed included vocabulary, grammar integration, interactive exercises, and cultural themes. Data were drawn from primary textbook materials and supplemented with insights from existing literature on Arabic pedagogy. The findings revealed that Al-Arabiyah Baina Yadaik effectively promotes communicative competence through practical dialogues, role-playing activities, and authentic materials. Its cultural integration provides learners with essential insights into Arab and Islamic traditions, fostering both linguistic proficiency and intercultural awareness. However, its limitations include insufficient feedback mechanisms, limited customization for diverse learner needs, and a predominant focus on traditional cultural themes. The study concludes that, while the textbook is a valuable resource, addressing its limitations could enhance its adaptability and relevance for modern learners. These findings contribute to the ongoing development of communicative Arabic teaching models, and highlight the importance of integrating cultural and technological advancements into language pedagogy. This research provides actionable insights for educators and curriculum designers, laying the groundwork for future studies on Arabic language education.
