Abstract

This study investigated the impact of the KWL strategy in developing future thinking skills among social education students at Ajloun University College. The study sample comprised (200) undergraduates from Ajloun University College enrolled in a social education course in the first semester of the academic year 2023-2024, distributed into two groups (control, experimental). The study cared for the semi-experimental design. For data collection, the researcher used the Future Thinking Scale. The KWL strategy strongly affected students' future thinking abilities because the experimental group moved from 2.31 to 4.33 while the control group students only increased from 2.25 to 2.30. The analysis through ANCOVA demonstrated a substantial relationship (F = 821.246, p < 0.05, ?² = 0.807) and significant enhancements in student abilities for future planning (?² = 0.773), problem-solving (?² = 0.752) and future imagination (?² = 0.803) and future expectation (?² = 0.767). The research supports KWL as a successful method to improve student cognitive abilities and future thinking capabilities.
